Meet Murphy

Barrio Dogs is happy to be participating in 2015's Clear the Shelters program with Telemundo and KPRC Click2 Houston. One of the dogs we're featuring is Murphy.  A resident found her in the East End's Broadmoor Park area and couldn't leave her out on the streets. We agreed to help if the resident would foster Murphy.  For more information about her, contact tauna@barriodogs.org.

He's recovered but because of his feisty personality, we continue to call him Prince Harry.  For more information about him, contact tauna@barriodogs.org.

Meet Otis

Barrio Dogs is happy to be participating in 2015's Clear the Shelters program with Telemundo and KPRC Click2 Houston. One of the dogs we're featuring is Otis, who we found in the Third Ward with an embedded collar around his neck.

Otis was our first embedded collar dog and we used his picture to raise awareness of this situation that occurs when people put a collar on a dog and later abandon the dog or it runs away. As the dog grows, the collar cannot expand and the dog's skin grows around it resulting in severe infection and injury. Because Otis was rescued, he recovered but if not treated, an animal probably will not survive an embedded collar. For more information about Otis, contact tauna@barriodogs.org.
